1. Feliciano H. Vargas, a Riverside mechanic, was arrested and charged with misapplication of property after he let someone else drive a customer's vehicle without consent, police said. According to Southampton Town Police, "on Wednesday, a call came in regarding a dispute between a mechanic and customer. The customer has seen a man he didn't know driving his vehicle, which had been left with the mechanic for repairs," police said. (Patch)
2. In an effort for environmental preservation, Hampton Bays students helped Save Environmental founder Robert Vasiluth glue hundreds of eelgrass seeds onto hard clams. The seeding effort helps to restore the "rapidly decreasing eelgrass meadows," that provide shelter for a variety of invertebrates. (Westhampton-Hampton Bays Patch)
