- The Southampton Press reported several schools in the area called a snow day for Monday as residents were still busy digging out from the blizzard that dropped more than a foot of snow on the area Saturday. "Both the East Hampton School District and Springs School, as well as Southampton School District announced they would be closed on Monday. The East Quogue, Bridgehampton, and Sag Harbor school districts will have a two-hour delay," said the Southampton Press. (Subscription: Southampton Press)
- A little girl, 6, was run over while sledding in the parking lot of Southampton Youth Services Sunday afternoon, police said. The child had been sledding with relatives at the recreation center on Majors Path; after sledding, a relative started the Jeep and was loading the vehicle when it began to roll forward, then struck and ran over the girl, police said. The vehicle continued to roll despite the owner's attempt to stop it; it continued moving forward and struck a Southampton Town highway vehicle that was plowing the lot, police said. The child, was airlifted by Suffolk County Police aviation to Stoney Brook University Hospital for treatment. (Patch)
