Here are the top stories today in Southampton:

  1. The Southampton School District announced that Brad Bockaus, a "superstar" wrestler at Southampton High School, is heading to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Wrestling Championships, scheduled for Feb. 25. "It is no surprise to me that the hardest, steadiest worker got the prize," said Bockhaus' coach, Lester Ware. (Southampton Patch)
  2. Amazon is expected to open its warehouse at the Hampton Business District in Westhampton Beach this spring. The last-mile warehouse is expected to join Tate's Bake Shop, Westhampton Beach Brewing Co., Duggal Visual Solutions and other companies at Gabreski airport business center. Officials said it would begin on the district's fifth and final building. (Subscription: Newsday)
  3. Yusef Staine, a West Babylon man, was shot dead by a man who "appeared to be traveling" with him while he was onboard a westbound LIRR train that was parked at the Ronkonkoma station at about 1:45 a.m., Suffolk police said. No one has been apprehended in connection with the shooting, MTA officials said. (WABC-TV)
  4. An Environmental Quality Board of Review hearing is scheduled for Feb. 17. The hearings will be held via Zoom. Only Department representatives, applicants, applicant representatives, and formally invited parties will be able to speak during the hearing.
