Southampton residence have had to endure the noise of landscapers throughout their summer weekdays and weekends; gas-powered leaf blowers are the most obtrusive."Southampton Town board voted Tuesday to green light a resolution that puts the brakes on gas-powered leaf blowers during the summer months. According to the legislation, sponsored by Southampton Town Councilman John Bouvier, there is a seasonal ban on the gas-powered leaf blowers from May 20 to Sept. 20." (Southampton Patch)
3. The Northport VA could close its emergency room, shift medical and surgical services to local hospitals and move its residential rehabilitation program to Queens under a new proposal. Only inpatient mental health, residential nursing home care and rehabilitation medicine would remain in Northport. (Subscription: Newsday)
