Southampton Election 2025: Welker WIns Legislator Race By Wide Margin

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Voters have spoken in the slate of Southampton Town races on Election Day.

According to unofficial results by the Suffolk County Board of Elections, incumbent Suffolk County Legislator Ann Welker, a Democrat who represents the 2nd District, emerged victorious with 11,716 votes, or 69.95 percent, compared to challenger Raheem Soto, a Republican, who received 5,030 votes, or 30.03 percent.

In the race for Southampton Town Clerk, incumbent Sundy Schermeyer, a Republican, retained her seat with 6,720 votes, or 54.14 percent; Democratic challenger Mark Bernardo received 5,354 votes, or 43.14 percent; and challenger Peter Collins, who ran on the Working Families line, received 333 votes, or 2.68 percent.

Democrat Tom Neely took the lead in the race for two open Southampton town board seats. Neely received 6,799 votes, or 33.05 percent. Incumbent and Republican Rick Martel received 5,890 votes, or 28.64 percent; incumbent and Republican Cynthia McNamara received 6,023 votes or 29.28 percent; and Andrew Smith, who ran on the Working Families line, received 897 votes or 4.36 percent. Ieshia Galicia, who ran on the Working Families line, received 949 votes, or 4.61 percent.

Finally, according to unofficial results, in the Southampton Town trustee race, Matthew Parsons, a Democrat, received 6,462 votes, or 11.04 percent; Sara Topping, a Democrat, received 6,584 votes, or 11.25 percent; Democrat Hannah Pell-O'Farrell received 6,989 votes, or 11.94 percent; Democrat Joseph McLoughlin, a Democrat, received 6,372 votes, or 10.88 percent; Jimmy Mack, a Democrat, received 6,315 votes, or 10.79 percent; Republican John Carson received 4,963 vores or 8.48 percent; Scott Horowitz, a Republican, garnered 5,505 votes, or 9.40 percent; Republican Chip Maran received 4,619 votes, or 7.89 percent; Republican Bill Parash received 5,124 votes, or 8.75 percent, and longtime incumbent Ed Warner Jr., a Republican, received 5,608 votes, or 9.58 percent.
