Woman Arrested, Charged With Unlawful Imprisonment After Locking Car Doors, Trying To Drive Off With Girl: PD
She was arrested Friday night, police say.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A woman was arrested Friday night after an incident involving a girl, 16, in Southampton, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, at about 8:07 p.m., the communications division received a report of a possible disturbance at a residence in Southampton.
An investigation conducted by responding patrol officers revealed that an adult female did not allow a juvenile to exit her vehicle by locking the doors, police said. The teen's mother attempted to stop the adult female from driving away and tried multiple times to prevent her from leaving with the girl, police said.

Despite her efforts, the adult female continued to drive away in an aggressive manner; this caused the teen to feel scared for her physical safety, police said.
Subsequently, a 58-year-old resident of Southampton was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, a misdemeanor, police said. She was transported to Southampton Town police headquarters, processed, and released on an appearance ticket with a future arraignment date, police said.
