HV Outage Update: 10K Still Powerless At Dusk After Storm
Crews are working to restore electricity to all those who have lost power.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Utility companies in the region are whittling away at the widespread power outages from the potent overnight storm.
NYSEG and O&R, for example, started the day with about 15,000 outages each.
From 25,000 outages at 11 a.m. Monday, the four utilities in the Hudson Valley are reporting less than 10,000 left as of 4 p.m.:

For safety’s sake, O&R warns the public not to touch or approach any downed wire. Assume it is energized and dangerous. Call your utility company immediately. Depending on the situation, you may also consider calling your local police to divert traffic from the downed wire’s location until a crew arrives.

As of 8:10 a.m. there were 20,000 customers without electricity in the Hudson Valley:
- NYSEG reports 7,528 customers without power in northeast Westchester, 1,906 in Dutchess, and 1,861 in Putnam County.
- O&R reports 2,449 customers out in Rockland County and 1,879 in Orange
- Cen Hud reports 3,979 out in Dutchess, 808 in Orange, 441 in Putnam and 26 in Ulster
- Con Ed reports 6,745 out in Westchester.
A flood warning has been issued for Putnam and Westchester counties until 9:15 a.m.
Flash flood warnings have been issued for Ossining, Peekskill, Haverstraw, Tarrytown, Mount Kisco, Mahopac, Lake Carmel, Nyack, Brewster and Cold Spring through 10:30 a.m.
