Brewster Cops Write 95 Parking Tickets in August

Authorities received (85) 911 calls, which included complaints for everything from car accidents to assaults to a stuck elevator.

At this week's Village Board of Trustees regular meeting, officials accepted the Brewster Police Department's report for August. Officers:

  • Issued hundreds of tickets: 106 traffic violations, 100 Department of Transportation truck enforcement and 95 parking.
  • Inspected 65 taxis.
  • Made 9 arrests: five suspended registrations, two harassments, one domestic assault and one suspended license.
  • Made 401 security visits: 156 to the sewer, 150 to the water tank and 95 to the well field.
  • Spent 177 hours on foot patrol: 71 on Main Street, 85 at the Brewster Train Station and 21 in residential areas.
  • Handled (85) 911 calls—for reports that ranged from a larceny to a sewer leak to a lost child—and 24 walk-in/pickup complaints.
