Cat Named Kiwi Shot In Patterson; Putnam SPCA Seeks Public's Help

The animal's owner is offering a $500 reward for information leading to arrest and conviction, SPCA officials said.

PATTERSON, NY — The Putnam County SPCA Law Enforcement Division is seeking the public's assistance with an investigation of animal cruelty in Patterson.

A cat named Kiwi was shot on or around Aug. 20, SPCA officials said. The orange tabby cat was shot with a metal projectile, possibly an airgun pellet.

The 3-year-old, neutered male cat is owned by a resident of Bullet Hole Road and the shooting probably took place around Bullet Hole Road, Fair Street or Highview Drive.

Kiwi was examined by South Putnam Animal Hospital, where x-rays were taken, SPCA officials said. The metal projectile was observed in the ventral abdominal muscle wall, where it currently remains. There will likely be further necessary medical treatment and surgery to remove it.

The animal's owner is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) who shot Kiwi.
