Halloween Frost Advisory For Part Of The Hudson Valley

The sun will come out, but temperatures will become brisker. Here's the latest.

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — Temperatures will go as low as 33 overnight in Orange and Putnam counties, and the National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory for 4-9 a.m. on Halloween.

"If the frost doesn't happen Monday night, it will occur either Tuesday or Wednesday night. So be sure to take the proper precautions," Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather said on Facebook.

The good news is that the rain will stop across the Hudson Valley Tuesday, though lower temperatures will create cold conditions for Halloween night.

"'Trick or Treat' weather remains dry with temperatures dropping through the 40s and into the upper 30s during candy collection," Bruce Furbeck of First Due Weather said on Facebook.

Later in the week, a storm is expected to come through.

"Not only will temperatures be 30 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit lower when compared to the peak of the warmth from its past week and weekend, but snowflakes will be flying in much of the Midwest and the interior Northeast," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist.

While most of the chance for snow is limited to western and northern New York, even New York City could see some wet snowflakes briefly mixed in with rain showers associated with the clipper storm by Wednesday, he said.
