BREWSTER, NY — It’s that time of year for dealing with the fallen leaves.

The village of Brewster Department of Public Works said it will be going through the village on a weekly basis to collect unwanted leaves and brush.

Hedge and tree trimming should be tied in bundles no larger than 3 feet in length and 16 inches in diameter.

The DPW said leaves will only be cleaned up if they are on the side of the street.

After Nov. 30, grass clippings and leaves must be placed in open plastic containers or paper bags for collection. Grass clippings and leaves must not contain other debris such as rocks, wood, metal, hard plastics or tree branches of any size. Doing so will damage the vacuum that cleans up the leaves and will delay collection.

Also, neither wet leaves nor tree stumps will be collected.
