Man Found Intoxicated With Gun, Cocaine In Southeast: NYSP

Police say he resisted arrest after he was found unconscious behind the wheel of his car.

SOUTHEAST, NY — A Connecticut man was arrested in New York after he was found intoxicated with a loaded gun and cocaine Saturday. Peter T. Shirvell, 22, of Ridgefield was arrested after he was found unconscious behind the wheel of his vehicle near the entrance of a gas station on Starr Ridge Road and State Road 6, police said.

Shirvell physically resisted troopers as they tried to arrest him. They then found him with a small amount of cocaine and an illegal loaded gun.

He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, criminal possession of a controlled substance.

State police say he faces up to 15 years in state prison if convicted of the top count. He is due in court on Dec. 5.
