Man With 'Weapon' Barricades Himself In HV Apartment: Police
Police tried to contact the man several times before a team was sent in and took him into custody.
MAHOPAC, NY — A Putnam County man who barricaded himself with what appeared to be a weapon was taken into custody by police Monday.
The Town of Carmel Police Department said, around 10:20 p.m. Monday, officers were notified by Putnam County 911 about a man with a gun at 149 East Lake Boulevard in Mahopac.
Victims advised 911 while driving on East Lake Boulevard that a man who was a neighbor flashed a black handgun in a threatening manner and fled into his apartment complex.

Carmel police established a perimeter, evacuated adjacent apartments and tried unsuccessfully to contact the man by phone.
The Putnam County Multi-Agency Police Emergency Response Team, consisting of police SWAT operators and crisis negotiators from the Carmel and Kent police departments, were deployed to the scene.

Westchester County Police Special Response Team and crisis negotiators responded as well.
After multiple attempts to contact the man, Westchester’s special response team gained entry to the man’s apartment and took Nicholas Buccheri, 23, of Mahopac, into custody without further incident.
He was turned over to the Carmel police detectives and an imitation handgun was recovered at the scene
Buccheri is being held pending charges of second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Carmel police detectives said they are continuing their investigation and ask anyone with information to call them at 845-628-1300.
