New Sign at Studio Around the Corner Points to Art, Music, Theater

From The Studio Around the Corner at Old Town Hall:

Behind the historic Old Town Hall is the entrance to The Studio Around the Corner. For the last five years, the Town of Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition has been providing a venue for art exhibits, theatrical performances, children’s programs, educational workshops and their very popular Concerts Around the Corner.

They have installed a new sign to point patrons to their location. Parking is available between the Brewster Public Library and Old Town Hall, which also houses the Southeast Museum.

The Town of Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition has been working for over five years to reopen the “Jewel in the Crown” of Brewster. They have begun the renovations of the theater and are continuing to raise funds with the help of programs run at the Studio Around the Corner as well as other local venues. They are holding An Evening Under the Stars: A Benefit to Raise Funds for Old Town Hall Theater on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 7-10 p.m. at the Elks Lodge on Route 22 in Brewster. Highlights of the evening include dancing to the music of DJ Doctor Dave, appetizers, desserts, cash bar and exciting raffle prizes. Tickets can be purchased in advanced for $25 on the Old Town Hall website.

Visit their website to find out more about their upcoming events, which include photography of Tom Kavana Exhibit, entitled “The Unseen Seen,” in September; the Community Connection’s free, adult ESL Wednesdays, starting Sept. 7; Natural Health Series lectures on the first Tuesday of the month, with “6 Dynamics of Health & Longevity” on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m.; “The Fine Art of DeCluttering” on Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m.; Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night performances Nov. 11-19 and Concerts Around the Corner, featuring Manhattan School of Music in November, and “The Concert for Peace” on New Years Day.

Local businesses and community organizations also provide programs at the Studio Around the Corner. EA Test Prep offers ACT and SAT preparation and other college preparatory classes. Spotlight Arts offers a variety of acting classes and musical theater programs for children and teens. Brewster Theater Company holds entertaining cabarets periodically throughout the year.
