Nuvance Health To Join Forces With Northwell Health

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Nuvance Health, which operates hospitals and urgent care facilities in the Hudson Valley and western Connecticut, has entered into an agreement with Northwell Health to form a regional health system serving two states.

The proposed agreement between the two nonprofit healthcare organizations is contingent upon necessary regulatory approval, according to a news release.

Nuvance Health operates Northern Dutchess Hospital, Vassar Brothers Medical Center and Putnam Hospital in the Hudson Valley and three hospitals in Connecticut, including Sharon Hospital, along with urgent care centers.

John M. Murphy, M.D., president and CEO of Nuvance Health, said the organization is taking a giant leap forward in providing quality health care to the communities by joining forces with Northwell.

“This agreement enables us to make significant improvements to health outcomes for community hospitals and to deliver unparalleled care and drive positive change in the healthcare landscape,” he said.

Northwell and Nuvance Health will combine the strengths of both organizations and advance the level of care for patients in New York and Connecticut.

Officials said the new regional system will bring greater access to primary, specialty and hospital care through a network of 14,500 providers and more than 1,000 sites of care, including 28 hospitals.

Northwell will make significant investments in Nuvance Health, helping it continue to evolve as a high-quality and comprehensive healthcare system serving communities throughout New York and Connecticut.
