James Francis Dunn, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and distinguished Korean War veteran, passed away at the age of 90 in his longtime Brewster residence.

He was born on October 31, 1933, to James and Ann (Waring) Dunn of New York, NY.
Jim served his country with honor as a member of the U.S. Navy. He was stationed on the USS Howard D. Crow where he earned the utmost respect from his comrades and fellow veterans. He was a proud member of the VFW Post 672, where he found solace amongst fellow servicemen sharing stories of the time they had so honorably served our country.

In his personal life, James experienced the joy of marriage when he met the love of his life, Martha Brems. They shared many beautiful years together, building a family and home. Martha unfortunately predeceased him on June 12, 2015, leaving an unfillable void in Jim’s life.
After Jim’s time in the Navy, he started his career working for Con Edison, in Queens New York and later accepted a position with the New York City Board of Education as a custodial engineer, where he later retired in 1995.
Jim is a proud father to 4 children, sadly his son James Dunn left the world in 2020.
He is survived by his 2 daughters and their spouses, Agnes Green, her husband Rick Green, Kathleen Koch and her husband Kevin Koch. He is also survived by his youngest son Nicholas Dunn and his wife Kathleen.
In Jim's life he was blessed to be the grandfather to 7 amazing grandchildren Cathleen, Christine, Jennifer, Melissa, Taylor, Nicholas, and Michael, as well as 4 great-grandchildren, Alissa, Logan, Weston and Ariana.
Jim’s infectious smile, and kindness will be truly missed by all that knew him.
Memorial Visitation Hours will be held at Beecher Funeral home in Brewster, N.Y. 10509 on Wednesday December 20, 2023, from 4-7pm.
