Obituary: Jeannette Doellgast, Former Putnam County Resident

Jeannette B. Doellgast of Troy, NY, passed away in Albany, NY on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the age of 62.
Jeannette was born May 22, 1961, in West Islip, NY, the daughter of the late Alfred and Mary Eileen (Waldron-McGahern) Doellgast. She grew up in Deer Park, NY where she graduated from Deer Park High School.

Upon graduation, she moved to Manhattan where she received her Bachelor's degree in Textile Science from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Later she earned her master's degree in Special Education from Lehman College in New York.
It was during this time that she met and married one of the great loves of her life, Mohsen Alam El Din on June 13, 1987, under the Brooklyn Bridge. Jeannette eventually settled in the Putnam County area with her husband and their three children. After Mohsen passed away in 2016, Jeannette moved to upstate NY to be closer to her eldest daughter and son-in-law.

In Troy, she met and shared three wonderful years with her loving partner John. She loved the Capital Region and was a big part of the Troy community, from volunteering at the Food Pantries of the Capital District to restoring a Historical home in downtown Troy.
Jeannette started her career in textiles rising to the Vice President of the North East Region at Burlington Industries, until becoming a special education teacher in New York City. After moving to the Putnam County area she and her husband opened and owned several restaurants including 17 Main in Mount Kisco, NY, and the Plumbush Inn in Cold Spring, NY.
Jeannette had a passion for design and an endless trove of ideas. She loved to sew, cook, travel, and experience new places. She lived her life every day to the fullest. But, most of all, she fiercely loved her family and friends.
Jeannette is predeceased by her husband Mohsen Alam El Din. She is survived by her three children, Alexandra (Daniel Meeks) Alam El Din Meeks, Sarah- Marie Alam El Din, and Dowlette Alam El Din, her four sisters Marie- Elena (Ron Dobert- Lynch), Nancy Elizabeth Doellgast, Mary- Bridget (Frans Klinkenberg) Doellgast, and Alicia Doellgast, and her partner John Pasicznyk, among many other cousins, nephews, and nieces.
A celebration of her life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 11:00 am. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
In place of flowers, contributions can be made to The Food Pantries of the Capital District, 32 Essex Street, Albany NY, 12206, or a non-profit of your choice serving those in need.
