Pipeline Gas Venting Announced In Southeast

The notification came from Enbridge about the Algonquin Pipeline venting station in Southeast.

SOUTHEAST, NY — A planned natural gas release may occur at the Southeast Compressor Station on Tuesday.

Algonquin Gas Transmission, LLC is planning to perform maintenance which may result in natural gas venting.

The company will make every effort to minimize the volume of gas released by using recompression equipment at the site to reduce the amount of gas vented, officials said.

This planned maintenance may release more than 10,000 standard cubic feet of natural gas and will vent through facilities specifically designed to safely vent natural gas. The venting may be heard by neighbors.

While there will be no risk to the public, Enbridge has notified local public safety officials in the event they receive any calls or questions, company officials said.
