Tornado Watch Issued Sunday For Putnam, Westchester, Long Island

It joins flood watches and warnings.

NEW YORK — The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Nassau, Putnam, Suffolk and Westchester counties.

It is in effect until 3 p.m. Sunday.

It joins flood advisories and warnings for Long Island and the Hudson Valley.

The NWS said:

Showers and thunderstorms are expected across the watch area today. Multiple rounds of showers, including training of thunderstorms, remains likely today. On average, rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches can be expected, with localized amounts of 4 to 6 inches possible. Can not rule out the potential for a few isolated spots receiving 7+ inches.
Localized significant flooding remains likely in areas where the heaviest rainfall occurs.
