Here are the top stories today in Sunset Park:

  1. A fire raged at a construction site near 63rd Street in Sunset Park on Tuesday. The blaze temporarily trapped construction workers, and resulted in minor injuries for nine civilians and two firefighters. The site, which is being developed as affordable housing by the Fifth Avenue Committee, is formerly home to the Zion Lutheran Church. (Brooklyn Paper)
  2. RegenLab USA, the American affiliate of an international biotech company, joined the Brooklyn Army Terminal on Monday with a ribbon-cutting event. The company, which specializes in cellular therapies, says it will bring 150 new jobs to Brooklyn. (Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
  3. Monday saw the lifting of a pandemic-era international travel ban to the United States. And that means international tourists, and families separated by borders, are already heading back to New York City. To enter the country foreign citizens must have a WHO-approved vaccine (which does not include Russia's widely-used Sputnik V and China's CanSino), and show proof of a negative Covid-19 test. (NYC Patch)
  4. A Brooklyn-centric edition of the board game Monopoly is now available, featuring Sunset Park in the category of "parks and recreation sites." (6Sqft)
