Ex-Sunset Park Jail Guard Pleads Guilty To Planning Hammer Attack
George Gonzalez pleaded guilty to trying to hire a hitman to attack his estranged wife with a hammer, the New York Daily News reported.

SUNSET PARK, NY — A former guard at a Sunset Park jail pleaded guilty to trying to hire a hitman to attack his estranged wife and her current lover with a hammer, the New York Daily News reported.
George Gonzalez, a former corrections officer who worked at the Metropolitan Detention Center, tried to hire a hitman last year to assault the pair in Florida and make it look like a robbery, according to federal prosecutors.

Gonzalez was in the process of divorcing his wife at the time and had a court order which required him to stay away from her, the News reported.
The former corrections officer discussed the plan several times with a hitman from November 2016 to January 2017, but it turned out to be an undercover cop the whole time, federal prosecutors said. He was arrested in January 2017 for the plot.

He could face more than 12 years behind bars for the plot, but his lawyer told the News he plan to pushs for probation.
