Fugitive Gunman Suspected Of Brooklyn Robbery: NYPD

Police suspect Joshua Stuart of a Monday morning gunpoint-robbery in Bay Ridge.

BAY RIDGE, NY — The armed and dangerous fugitive who shot at upstate police is wanted for a gunpoint-robbery that occurred in Bay Ridge Monday morning, the NYPD said.

Joshua Stuart, 42, who is on the lamb from authorities after a Friday police involved shooting near Poughkeepsie, is suspected of robbing a smoke shop on Third Avenue near 83rd Street at 8:37 a.m., police said.

Stuart allegedly approached a 29-year-old employee and brandished a firearm, grabbing the man's wallet with $50 and a credit card before he fled in a grey 2005 Honda Pilot. There were no injuries reported.

Stuart allegedly opened fire in Ellenville Regional Hospital early Friday morning. He fled the hospital in a white Dodge Ram 1500, but authorities with the Department of Environmental Protection Police caught up to him Vernooy Kill State Forest, officials said.

Stuart fired several rounds at the officers before running into the woods. The NYPD said Stuart was spotted in the Sunset Park and Flatbush sections of Brooklyn Sunday.

Anyone who sees Stuart is urged to call 911 immediately, authorities said.
