Here are the top stories today in Sunset Park:

  1. Red Hook residents are growing increasingly frustrated by the unclear fate of their recreation center which has been closed since March 2020. It was further damaged by hurricane IDA. While it might seem a world away from Sunset Park, the neighborhoods are in the same Council and State Assembly districts. (Brooklyn Paper)
  2. One-time former Congressman Max Rose announced that he plans to run against a Republican for his old seat, which includes Bay Ridge and Staten Island. (Brooklyn Paper)
  3. Mayor de Blasio announced a vaccine mandate for all private-sector workers starting on December 27th — just days before he leaves office in January. He also announced that kids 5-11 years old would be included in the indoors vaccine requirement already in place. (NYC Patch)
