New Brewery Opens In Sunset Park

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — A new brewery in Sunset Park will open this Saturday, when Five Boroughs Brewing hosts a "tap room launch party."

The brewery is going in on 47th Street, between Second and Third avenues, where beer will be made in-house, according to their website.

The "five boroughs" theme is evident in marketing materials.

"We converge from different parts of the five boroughs to brew craft beer that brings New York City together," the website says. "We make craft beer for the hidden trails of the Bronx and sprawling Manhattan avenues. For lounging in backyards on Staten Island and fire escapes in Brooklyn. For cutting out early in Queens—and staying out late everywhere."

The tap room itself appears to be a sunny, airy and industrial space not unlike some of the breweries you'd find in places like Gowanus.

And their Mosaic Pale Ale took home the bronze at this year's New York State Craft Beer Competition in the pale ale category.

"We’ve been waiting a really long time for New York City to enjoy our beer, so we can’t wait to open our doors in a big way," co-founder Kevin O’Donnell told Brooklyn Paper.

The taproom's doors will open at noon Saturday for the brewery's grand opening. A host of restaurants will be serving up food, too, including DiSO'S Italian Sandwich Society, STUF'D, El Toro Rojo and Phil’s Steaks.

"The long, hot days of summer are upon us. But the good news is that we're about to open our doors. The beer is cold and the taproom's cool. The only missing piece of the puzzle is, well, you!" an event page reads.

"Join us on August 5th at noon as we officially open our taproom doors to the public and celebrate with an all-out summer bash. We'll be taking the best parts of a Brooklyn block party and bringing them inside the brewery."
