BOROUGH PARK, BROOKLYN — Robbers hit an HSBC bank in Borough Park last Friday night, cutting through a fence and the building's roof before making off with cash and other valuables, according to police.

The robbery, which targeted the HSBC branch located at 4410 13th Street, took place on Friday night, according to police.

It was discovered by bank employees on Monday morning when they opened the branch.

The NYPD said Tuesday that an initial investigation showed the heisters made off with $280,000 in valuables. However, a police spokeswoman backtracked Tuesday, saying that sum has not been confirmed.

Police press officers also couldn't specify the types of valuables stolen from the bank.

An FBI spokeswoman confirmed Tuesday that investigators from the agency are investigating the incident alongside NYPD detectives.

Reporters on the scene Monday tweeted out pictures of a hole in the bank's roof.

According to the New York Daily News, the building's alarm system wasn't triggered during the heist.

Bank employees also found a ladder on the building's roof after the heist, the Daily News reported.

The alleged perpetrators also apparently cut through a fence surrounding the bank:

"We can confirm that an incident has taken place and HSBC is cooperating fully with the authorities," HSBC spokesman Jeremy Balkin said Monday night. He said both the FBI and the NYPD were looking into the incident.
