- Members of Congress want answers from the MTA following the Brooklyn subway shooting because the cameras in the 36th Street station were not working due to a server issue. Police acknowledged that security cameras in three stations weren’t working on the morning of April 12. An inquiry into why the cameras were not transmitting and a review of the maintenance and repair program for the critical equipment has been initiated by the Office of the Inspector General. - The Sunset Park Material Recovery Facility, a processing center for New York City’s curbside metal, glass, and plastic recyclables, sent a cloud of black smoke over Kings County as New York awoke for Earth Day 2022 on Friday. A large pile of trash caught fire, firefighters responded to a call just after 7 a.m. at the Sims Municipal Recycling facility at 472 2nd Ave., within the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal.
