- An accused CIA leaker being held at Brooklyn's federal jail in Sunset Park denounced the people that run it as "ruthless, soulless a--holes," stating that some inmates are planning on starting a hunger strike for better conditions. (New York Daily News)
- Sunset Park State Senator Zellnor Myrie called New York's voting system "a five-alarm fire for every voter in the state," upon the release of a report into systematic failures within NY's electoral system. The report recommends restructuring each county's Democratic and Republican parties, which currently grant large amounts of power to party bosses. (Gothamist)
- All New York City adults ages 18 and older are eligible for coronavirus vaccine boosters, provided they got their last shot at least six months ago. The city's health commissioner made the announcement, hoping to avoid a huge winter surge in cases. (NYC Patch)
- Governor Kathy Hochul announced that, thanks to the recent infrastructure bill, the MTA is no longer considering fare hikes or service cuts in the foreseeable future. (Gothamist)
