1 Killed, 4 Injured In Crash On LIE: Nassau Police

Police say two cars collided and crashed into the barrier near exit 46, killing one man and injuring four other people.

SYOSSET, NY — One man was killed and four more were injured in a car crash on the Long Island Expressway in Syosset early Sunday morning.

According to police, a 2010 Toyota Corolla with four people in it was driving east on the LIE at 5 a.m. when it collided with the back of a 2017 Honda CRV, occupied only by the driver. The crash caused both cars to hit the road barriers at exit 46.

The crash killed one of the rear passengers of the Corolla, a 22-year-old man from Middle Island. The driver, a 19-year-old man from Middle Island, suffered minor injuries. The front passenger, a 23-year-old man from Bellport, broke both his legs and had minor facial injuries. And the other passenger, a 24-year-old man from Elmont, suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Honda, a 57-year-old woman, suffered neck and back injuries.

All of the survivors are listed in stable condition. Both vehicles were impounded at the scene.
