Fire Guts Syosset Home; Family Unharmed
Crews arrived to heavy smoke billowing out of the two-story home. Flames spread from the basement to the second floor.
SYOSSET, NY — Police and fire officials are investigating a house blaze in Syosset after flames broke out in a basement and spread through the walls to the rest of the home.
The Syosset Volunteer Fire Department rushed to Greenacre Court around 10:20 p.m. Friday, officials told Patch. Crews arrived to heavy smoke billowing out of the two-story home. All family members were found and accounted for, officials said.
Flames were found in the basement and spread to the first and second floors. Crews stretched three hose lines to the home to extinguish the blaze.

Volunteer firefighters from Bethpage, Plainview, Jericho and Huntington Manor helped put out the fire. No injuries were reported. The home sustained major damage.
The cause wasn't immediately known.
