Meet The Candidates: Kevin McKenna For Oyster Bay Town Supervisor

OYSTER BAY TOWN, NY — Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 2. With voting just around the corner, Patch is reaching out to candidates across Nassau County to find out why they're running for office, and what they hope to achieve for residents.

Kevin McKenna is running as an independent write-in candidate for Town of Oyster Bay supervisor, challenging incumbent Republican Joseph Saladino.

McKenna, 64, has worked in management for Siemens for 20 years. He is very involved with local government and has been trying to get the town to be more transparent.

Why are you seeking elective office?

To Bring Honest and Competent Government.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Lack of Accountability and I intend to change the Culture and Bring Council Districts with residents approval.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I’m Competent and Honest

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

The Current Supervisor and Town Board operate in Secrecy.

How do you think local officials performed in responding to the coronavirus? What if anything would you have done differently?

They took Direction from the State. Instead of giving out almost 700k in pay increases , I would have used that to assist local failing businesses.

My Campaign Platform consists of many Goals . I will list some:

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I Overachieved during my 20 Years working for a Global Company turning around the NYC Operation in both profit and customer service. I Excell at Team Building and Communicating .

Be Honest and Do your best to Make a Difference.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I have spent the past 5 plus years attending Town Board Meetings, Witnessing Mismanagement, Secrecy and Arrogance towards the Public. I have fought and Won Litigation protecting Free Speech at my own expense. I have built a Facebook Page to 15,000 followers posting my findings and opinions. I have made a difference from the outside. Now it’s time to Fine Tune the Town Government with New Ideas including the Voice of Residents which has never been done.
