Planning for President's Week: Crafts and Activities at Garvies Point
Games, pottery-making and films are all on tap for the kids.

Planning ahead for President’s Week? Consider bringing the kids to Garvies Point Museum and Preserve in Glen Cove for crafts and activities. Programs are planned from Saturday, Feb. 14 through Saturday, Feb. 21.
Here’s what’s on tap:
Bird Feeder Craft:

Saturday, Feb. 14: (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.) Make your own bird feeder using recycled materials so you can enjoy observing our feathered friends all year long!

North American Native American Games:
All are invited to come learn and play authentic Native American games of skill and chance. Each program will feature games from different regions of the U.S. Programs and crafts are included with museum admission.
Tuesday, Feb. 17:
- Games of the Northeast (10 a.m. – 12 p.m.) & Plains (1 p.m. – 3 p.m.)
- Native American Sand Art Craft (10 a.m. – 3 p.m)
- Film: Princess Scargo and the Birthday Pumpkin (30 min.)
Wednesday, Feb. 18:
- Games of the Northwest (10 a.m. – 12 p.m.) & Southwest (1 p.m. – 3 p.m.)
- Talking Stick Craft (10 a.m. – 3 p.m)
- Film: The Legend of the Boy and the Eagle (21 min.)
Native American Pottery Making:
Thursday, Feb.19: (10 a.m. – 3 p.m., every ½ hour).
Create your own clay pot inspired by Native American technology.
Film: Eyewitness: Prehistoric Life (35 min.)
Beaded Pouch Craft:
Friday, Feb. 20: (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
Film: Plants and the Cherokee (30 min.)
Winter Nature Craft:
Saturday, Feb. 21: (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
Film: Loon’s Necklace (11 min.)
If you go: Garvies Point Museum and adjoining 62-acre preserve are located at 50 Barry Drive in Glen Cove. Museum General Admission is $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for children 5-12 yrs. Crafts and programs appropriate for all ages. All crafts require $5.00 material fee except on Tuesday, February 17th and Wednesday, February 18th. Proceeds go to the Friends of Garvies Point Museum and Preserve.
