Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?
Eesha Kaushik is a senior at Syosset High School. She is a brilliant all-round student with a magnetic personality. She has an undying passion for science and tennis. In addition to being an honor roll student, she is a recipient of science research award from Association of American Chinese Physicians.
During the pandemic, Eesha and her older sister Uma started the non-profit Help our Healthcare Heroes and raised more than $34,000 to secure PPE and other life-saving equipment for distribution to distressed hospitals, disability centers and nursing homes in the New York area and internationally to Uganda and Haiti.
As the pandemic got under control and people resumed their daily lives, Eesha started another non-profit foundation, Tennis Empower Camp, for children of under-represented communities of Long Island. She is always looking for ways to give back to the community. Being first singles tennis player on her high school team, she wanted to share her talent with children that have little or no access to an expensive sport like tennis. Eesha has been giving free tennis lesson to these children since 2021.
Her enthusiasm, can-do spirit is infectious, she is truly an inspiration to the world.
