Syosset School Boasts Strong Showing at History Competition
Sophia Jang, Billie Green and Ariel Blumenberg advanced to the New York State-level competition in Cooperstown .

Twenty H.B. Thompson Middle School students competed in the National History Day Long Island Regional Finals at Hofstra University on March 8.
Sophia Jang, Billie Green and Ariel Blumenberg advanced to the New York State-level competition to be held in Cooperstown on April 27. Jang was awarded first place for a research paper, “The Eradication of the Global Killer Smallpox: The Leadership and Legacy of the World Health Organization.”
Green was awarded second place for a research paper, “Harvey Milk: A Martyr in the Struggle for Rights.”

Blumenberg took third place for an individual exhibit, “Benedict Arnold: The Leadership and Legacy of America’s Most Infamous Traitor.”
Students and faculty members later had the opportunity to learn from the students’ entries, which were displayed in the library.
