The OCC Women’s Basketball team celebrates its Regional Championship and a berth in the National Tournament.

The Onondaga Community College Women’s Basketball team is heading to the national championships! The Lazers defeated North Country Community College 57-45 in the championship game of the Region 3 tournament Sunday night at Allyn Hall Gym on the OCC campus.

The Lazers Hannah Durand (Marcellus High School) was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player. Teammate Avianna Baker (Onondaga High School) was named to the All-Tournament team.

The win gives the Lazers an automatic berth in the national tournament March 9-12 in Rochester, Minnesota.

OCC’s Men’s Basketball team also made it to their Region 3 Tournament Championship Game. The Lazers lost to Genesee College 88-85 in Batavia Sunday afternoon. The Lazers Men’s team will learn Wednesday if they’ve been selected for an at-large berth in the National Tournament.
