Ceiling collapses in Nob Hill Apartments, latest in slew of complaints from Syracuse tenants (localsyr.com) — A Syracuse family was forced out of their Nob Hill Apartments unit after ceilings collapsed in the living room and their 4-year-old’s bedroom, leaving them to pay for a hotel in Liverpool. The tenant says maintenance was slow to respond, renters’ insurance may not cover immediate costs, and the family has now filed a complaint with Syracuse Code Enforcement while scrambling for safe, affordable housing before the holidays.
   

2. Local artists transform Syracuse storefronts into holiday masterpieces (cnycentral.com) — Downtown Syracuse storefronts are getting a festive makeover as local artist Ally Walker hand-paints holiday murals on nearly 30 businesses. Her work anchors the Downtown Committee’s “Winter Wonderland Window Displays” competition, where residents can scan QR codes on windows and vote for their favorite designs through Jan. 1.
   

3. Troopers arrest Syracuse man for drug and weapon possession (cnycentral.com) — State troopers arrested a Syracuse man on I-81 in Richland after a traffic stop led to felony drug and weapon charges and the seizure of over four pounds of cocaine, a handgun, and paraphernalia. The 32-year-old Syracuse driver is being held in Oswego County Jail pending arraignment on multiple felony and misdemeanor counts.
   

4. Solvay boys basketball snaps 2-game skid with ‘total team effort' win over Jordan-Elbridge (28 photos) (syracuse.com) — Solvay’s boys basketball team, based just outside Syracuse, bounced back from two early losses with an 80–64 road win over Jordan-Elbridge, powered by big scoring nights from Chris Nichols and Vinny Sinko. The game featured a shootout with Jordan-Elbridge’s Brunelle brothers, and both teams now quickly turn around for more league action early next week.
