Syracuse School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Syracuse is September 6. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Syracuse School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

September

• 9/6: First Day of School for Students

October

• 10/9: Columbus Day (No school)

November

• 11/7: Superintendent Conference Day/ Parent Teacher Conferences (no school for students)
• 11/10: Veteran’s Day Observance (No school)
• 11/14: Half Day for All Schools (Parent Teacher Conferences)
• 11/22-24: Thanksgiving Recess (No school)

December

• 12/8: Half Day for All Schools
• 12/25-29: Holiday Recess (No school)

January

• 1/1: New Year’s Day Observance (No school)
• 1/15: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Observance (No school)
• 1/22-25: Regents Examinations
• 1/26: Superintendent Conference Day (no school for students)

February

• 2/8: Half Day for All Schools (Parent Teacher Conferences)
• 2/19: President’s Day (No school)
• 2/19-23: Winter Recess (No school)

March

• 3/30: Good Friday (No school)

April

• 4/11-13: NYS ELA Assessments
• 4/23-27: Spring Recess (No school)

May

• 5/1-3: NYS Math Assessments
• 5/24: Contingency Weather Day
• 5/25: Contingency Weather Day
• 5/28: Memorial Day
• 5/29: Contingency Weather Day

June

• 6/5: Regents Examinations
• 6/12-21: Regents Examinations
• 6/21: Last Day for Students
