15-Year-Old In Car When Driver Was Arrested For Felony DWI On I-87: NYSP

The Mount Vernon man was found to have a BAC of 0.29 percent, after being arrested in Greenburgh, according to New York State troopers.​

GREENBURGH, NY — A Mount Vernon man was arrested in Greenburgh for potentially putting the life of a child at risk, according to state police.

On August 10, around 5:57 p.m., New York State Police said that troopers from Tarrytown stopped a 2015 Ford traveling south on I-87 for drifting onto the right shoulder of the road, in the town of Greenburgh.

While speaking with the driver, 36-year-old Edgar J. Torres Flores, of Mount Vernon, the troopers noticed signs of impairment, according to police. He was administered field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to NYSP.

The troopers said a 15-year-old child was also in the vehicle at the time of the stop.

Torres Flores was arrested and taken for processing, where his blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was found to be 0.29 percent, police said.

He was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, aggravated DWI, driving while intoxicated (1st offense), and other vehicle/traffic violations.

Torres Flores is scheduled to appear in court on September 5.
