2 Falcon Eggs Laid So Far In Nest At Top Of Cuomo Bridge

The public can keep tabs on the raptors via a 24-hour live webcam.

TARRYTOWN, NY — Peregrine falcons have arrived at the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge and set up a nest.

So far, the pair of raptors have laid two eggs in the nest, which can be seen via the live webcam. There is also live video of the nest.

The New York State Thruway Authority installed the man-made box near the top of one of the 419-foot towers of the bridge.

Falcons can usually lay from three to five eggs in the early spring, The chicks, which are called eyases, hatch about a month later.

Last year, a pair of falcons laid four eggs none of which hatched.

The public should bear in mind that falcons are wild animals and the way they act reflects what happens in nature. Some of their actions may be unpleasant to watch, officials said, and some of the fledglings may not survive.
