3-Vehicle Crash Involving Gravel Truck Closed Cuomo Bridge For Hours

First responders from both sides of the Hudson River were called to the scene of the collision that left gravel blocking traffic lanes.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A mess on the Mario Cuomo Bridge left commuters sitting idle for hours this morning after a three-vehicle crash

Just after 6 a.m., New York State Police responded to reports of the three-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer rollover and two passenger vehicles southbound on I-87 on the Mario Cuomo Bridge.

The tractor trailer was carrying gravel at the time of the crash. The truck's load spilled and spread across several lanes. Traffic was tied up on and around the bridge for much of the morning.

There were only minor injuries reported, according to troopers.

State police were assisted by Clarkstown EMS & Fire, Nanuet, Nyack and Tarrytown EMS, NYST Maintenance, the Central Nyack Fire Department and the Tarrytown Fire Department.

State police reported that all lanes were open as of 9:17 a.m., but say that the investigation into the crash is continuing.
