From Staples to Target to DSW, the back-to-school commercials are officially in overdrive.

On average, folks with kids in grades K-12 will spend $688.62 on back-to-school supplies this year, according to a survey by the National Retail Foundation. That's up from the average of $603.63 last year, the NRF reports.
