Track Equipment Fire Causes Hudson Line Delays

An MTA spokesperson said a fire broke out on track equipment early Wednesday morning south of the Tarrytown station.

TARRYTOWN, NY — There were delays on the Hudson Line Wednesday due to a fire involving track equipment that happened near the Tarrytown railroad station.

The incident happened around 1:49 a.m. when a track equipment train caught on fire south of the Tarrytown station.

A spokesperson for the railroad said fire department and maintenance personnel responded to the scene and the fire was extinguished.

There were no injuries.

One train was delayed at Greystone Station for about 45 minutes with 29 customers onboard. An extra train was put into service to accommodate customers traveling north of Croton-Harmon Station, officials said.

Maintenance personnel inspected the tracks and signals as well as the track equipment. Power was restored around 3:30 a.m.

Metro-North Railroad said Hudson Line customers experienced delays of up to 10 minutes while crews work to repair the tracks near Tarrytown for much of the day.
