GREENBURGH, NY — An online petition effort by an Elmsford resident has caught the attention of the state Department of Transportation.

Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner said Jennifer Glen has been asking the state to repave Saw Mill River Road in Elmsford and more than 1,100 residents and motorists have signed her online petition.

"Attracting more than 1,000 signatures on an online petition in days is very impressive and highlights how upset people are with the condition of this road," Feiner said. "The petition in itself speaks volumes on what residents and businesses want and deserve."

Glen received a response from the state DOT that said Route 9A in the village of Elmsford is not currently on the NYSDOT capital program, but the agency will continue to monitor the roadway and conduct maintenance as needed.

Feiner said the change.org petition drive, which is still accepting signatures, has been endorsed by Elmsford Mayor Robert Williams.

"Jennifer mentioned that she won't give up her effort to get the state to repave the road," Feiner said. "She has been reaching out to businesses, civic leaders, residents, elected officials and won't accept no as an answer."
