A Fresh Start: Sleepy Hollow Schools Unveil Renovated Outdoor Classroom

The Public Schools of the Tarrytowns

The Sleepy Hollow school community is kicking off the new year with something special, the grand opening of a beautifully renovated outdoor classroom space at Sleepy Hollow Middle and High Schools. Thanks to $350,000 in state aid secured by Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, the courtyard has been transformed into a vibrant learning environment designed to spark creativity, collaboration, and curiosity.

“This courtyard will serve as a dynamic space for learning, collaboration, and growth,” said Senator Stewart-Cousins, who joined students, staff, and administrators for a celebratory ribbon cutting.

From science experiments under the sun to art projects surrounded by nature, the outdoor classroom will give students an inspiring way to connect with their studies — and with each other. Superintendent Dr. Raymond Sanchez called the space “a vibrant extension of the classroom– where students can explore, and connect with one another in an inspiring environment” and thanked Senator Stewart-Cousins for her commitment to Tarrytown students and families.
