Heat Advisories Extend Into Friday For Parts Of Hudson Valley
For the mid-Hudson Valley, one advisory ends Thursday, but another starts on Friday.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Prepare for the heat to continue, as heat advisories have been issued into Friday.
For the lower Hudson Valley, the National Weather Service said the heat advisory is now in effect until 8 p.m. Friday.
That applies to Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.

Those counties are looking at heat index values up to 99.
A heat advisory for Dutchess and Ulster counties will expire at 8 p.m. Thursday, and another one will go into effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.

Thursday's heat index values could reach up to 103. For Friday, the heat index values could go as high as 97.
Health officials said to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heatstroke is an emergency; call 911.
