IAHD Resident Collapses, Later Dies

A developmentally disabled man collapsed in the bathroom and hit his head, but likely died of a heart attack, authorities say.

On Dec. 28 at 12:19 p.m. the Institute of Applied Human Dynamics dayhabilitation and work readiness facility on Warren Avenue requested an ambulance for an unresponsive man who had fallen in the bathroom and hit his head.

Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps started administering CPR on the man who apparently had no pulse and was not breathing. The 44-year-old man from the Bronx was then transported to Westchester Medical Center.

The detective division went to the center for further investigation and brought an employee to headquarters for follow-up. The employee reported that the client had been taken into the bathroom where he reportedly had collapsed.

Lieutenant William Herguth said the man passed away the next day at the hospital. Officials there told police that it was likely a heart attack that caused the man to collapse in the bathroom; from the actual fall he had suffered what was described by Herguth as a “very superficial head wound.”
