Three major unions, 1199 Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Communication Workers of America (CWA), and the Retail, Wholesale, and Department Store Union (RWDSU) have announced their endorsements of Mondaire Jones in New York’s 17th Congressional District. They join a growing coalition of over 160 in-district and national leaders who are supporting Jones in his race to defeat incumbent Mike Lawler and secure the House majority.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of 1199 SEIU, CWA, and RWDSU because the working people of the Lower Hudson Valley deserve a member of Congress who will fight for lower costs, higher wages, union protections, and an economy that works for everyone," said Mondaire Jones. "Oil and gas lobbyist Mike Lawler was anti-union in Albany, and now he’s anti-union in Washington, putting Wall Street and the super rich ahead of everyday people. When I return to Congress, I will build upon my pro-union record by passing the PRO Act and securing higher wages for workers,” Jones added.

“The healthcare workers of 1199SEIU stand ready to bring back Mondaire Jones to Washington," said Maurice Brown, 1199 Political Action Director, Hudson Valley/Capital Region. "The current Congress has been in disarray, while New York is seeing massive funding cuts to our healthcare institutions. Mondaire will protect healthcare funding and stand up to the Washington politicians who are clearly out of touch with what’s really going on," Brown noted.

“CWA District 1 is proud to endorse Mondaire Jones for election to the 17th Congressional District,"said Dennis G. Trainor, Vice President, CWA District 1. "In his first term in Congress, Mondaire proved himself to be a true advocate for New York’s working families and worked to reshape the landscape in Washington, putting power back in the hands of the people instead of big corporations and the ultra-rich. He’s dedicated his life to making the Hudson Valley a better place for working families and we’re ready to work hard alongside him,”Trainor stated.

“We are proud to once again endorse Mondaire Jones for NY-17,” said RWDSU President Stuart Appelbaum. “Mondaire fought tirelessly for working people when he was elected to Congress in 2020 and sat on the House Labor Committee, championing progressive causes from voting rights to housing justice to Social Security expansion to childcare concerns to LGBTQ rights. We will work hard this year to send Mondaire back to Congress to finish the work he started.”
