New Superintendent Announced in February

The Tarrytown Union Free School District's Board of Trustees said the superintendent search is going as planned and we should expect an announcement in February.

The search for a new district superintendent is right on track if not ahead of schedule, reported Board of Education's Vice President Mimi Godwin at last week's regular meeting.

Godwin said the search consulting firm Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates (HYA) has completed the screening of all applicants and is currently conducting background searches.

They will be interviewing candidates this month.

"If all goes well we will have an announcement in February of a new superintendent," Godwin said.

This falls on the earlier side of the projected February-March originally said at the start of the process in Autumn 2012.

Superintendent Dr. Howard Smith would finish out the school year and the new superintendent would start July 1.

As Patch has reported, Smith's job is tough to fill and the community's requests for the ideal candidate are long. Read more on the search criteria here.
