Police Arrest Alleged DoubleTree Freeloader
A Mt. Vernon man was charged with theft of services after allegedly skipping out on his $2,300 DoubleTree hotel bill.

Mt. Vernon Police stopped a man on Dec. 20 with a warrant out for his arrest in Tarrytown. According to Lieutenant William Herguth, Lamar Thomas, 47, of Mt. Vernon, had stayed at the DoubleTree Hotel in Tarrytown for an extended length of time and then skipped out on the bill.
The charge went back to Sept. 1 when the DoubleTree had reported Lamar had left without paying $2,334.56 for his stay from August 17 to Sept. 1, said Herguth.
Lamar was picked up by Tarrytown Police just after midnight on Dec. 21 and brought to headquarters where he was charged with theft of services/refusal to pay for services. Bail was set that morning by Judge Kyle McGovern at $1,000 cash and $5,000 bond with a return court date. Defendant posted the cash bail.
