Police: Felony Violation of Stay-Away Orders

A Tarrytown man allegedly in violation of two long-standing orders of protection was arrested by Tarrytown police.

A man was taken by police out of his parent's Park Avenue house after he allegedly was found there in violation of several long-standing orders of protection.

On Jan. 10 at 3:04 p.m., a county probation officer contacted Tarrytown police saying he believed a man was staying at his family's Park Avenue home in violation of an order of protection.

Officers report confirming a valid stay-away protection order against the man, who they found upstairs in his bedroom. A family member voluntarily let them into residence and the man was arrested without incident.

Aldo Morelli, 42, was booked for criminal contempt in the first degree, an E felony, with bail set at $10,000. He was taken to county jail with a return court date.

Lieutenant William Herguth said the county Supreme Court had issued a stay-away order to Morelli on June 26, 2007 valid through Nov. 13, 2018. He was then issued another order by Tarrytown Court on Sept. 19, 2010 valid through June 1, 2016.

"The two active orders of protection stem from domestic incidents involving his parents," Herguth said.

While transporting Morelli to county jail this time, an officer reported that Morelli began banging his head against the divider in the cruiser. The plastic partition was reportedly now unstable and might have to be replaced. Police planned to evaluate the damage to see if warranted a criminal complaint. Herguth said it didn't.
