Police Make DoubleTree Felony Drug Arrest

Police allegedly found an assortment of neatly packaged drugs on a man they arrested on felony drug charges at the DoubleTree Hotel.

Valerio Massaro, 41, of Astoria, Queens was placed under arrest for controlled possession of criminal substance in the third, a B Felony, and brought to Phelps Memorial Hospital for a medical evaluation, police report.

DoubleTree staff had called Tarrytown Police on Jan. 20 at 3:16 a.m. to report that a man was acting suspiciously and refusing to respond to security in the 200s-room hallway.

Tarrytown Police on the scene asked Massaro if he was taking any drugs or medication, said Lieutenant William Herguth. Massaro reportedly reached into his pocket and handed officers a prescription bottle with his name on it and added that he had snorted “K" or Ketamine.

a dissociative anesthetic developed in 1963 to replace PCP and currently used in human anesthesia and veterinary medicine. Much of the ketamine sold on the street has been diverted from veterinarians’ offices. Ketamine’s chemical structure and mechanism of action are similar to those of PCP.

Police report they asked Massaro if he had any more on him, and the man, said Herguth, handed over a metal tin with three Ibuprofen pills and 13 pills identified as OxyContin without a prescription.

OxyContin is, according to Drugfree.org, "the brand name for oxycodone hydrochloride, an opioid (narcotic) analgesic (pain reliever)."

Massaro then produced another tin with 13 clear pills containing white powder with alleged Ketamine.

Finally, Massaro handed over a bag containing eight tinted plastic bags with white powder in it, also, said Herguth, “alleged K.”

Massaro was brought to Phelps Hospital by the Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps where he was evaluated and then taken to police headquarters at 7:15 a.m.

Local police found that there was a bench warrant for Massaro out of NYPD for criminal possession of controlled sustance in the seventh.

Massaro was arraigned in Tarrytown court and brought to county jail with no bail and a return court date.
